As a major port on the coast of Georgia, Glynn County has a long, proud history with the fishing and shrimping industries. 

Today, however, more and more boats are launching into our locals waters for pure recreation, including recreational fishing.   Our location in Coastal Georgia provides us with a diverse range of eco-systems, from salt water marshes, to tidal creeks, wide rivers to the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf Stream beyond.  It creates an ideal environment for all types of water-related sports and activities, especially boating and fishing. 

Depending on the area and the season, fish found in our waters include mackerel, amberjack, tuna, grouper and snapper.  Blue crabs and the prized local shrimp are also tasty denizens of our local waters. 

Additionally, only a few miles inland is some of the world's best fresh water fishing - including the world record large mouth bass caught on the Altamaha River by a local Brunswick resident.

Every where you go in the Golden Isles, water front properties are at a premium, with deep water properties as the most sought after.

Many subdivisions offer community docks for its residents such as Riverside on the Back River in Brunswick and Oak Grove Island on the Turtle River.
